I was on the radio today!

A dream came true of mine. I was on the radio on my favourite network, CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Corporation). I met Gloria Macarenko and she was so lovely! I am a HUGE CBC fan and I couldn’t believe I got to go in the part of the building where they broadcast the news, both television and radio.

The radio program was all about a Youth with Autism conference taking place tomorrow and I will be running an Art workshop. This will be the first of it’s kind for me and hopefully not the last.

If you’re interested in hearing me on the radio, the link is here.

If you happen to be outside of Canada, you can always download a free VPN like ProtonVPN and set your location to Canada to be able to listen!

Autism Speaks…..

…But apparently, they do not listen!

If you haven’t seen this, you should:

This whole thing is laughable at best.

I was interviewed by a local, community newspaper under the umbrella of black press media. The reporter was incredibly interested in my art, autism and my story.

I specifically told her about my disapproval of Autism Speaks and how their aim is to eradicate autistic individuals like myself. I told her how important this detail was in regards to my own journey.

Every so often, I find myself looking up the title of the article to see where it’s been posted.

To my surprise, a disgustingly sick feeling came over me, It has been posted on the Autism Speaks facebook page for all to see.

The VERY article that had this statement in it:

The goal, Wosk explained, is to help people become more educated about autism — that’s why she spends much of her online time being an activist for autistic people and protesting against organizations like Autism Speaks, which Wosk said spend more time looking to eliminate autism rather than support autistic people.

It had been up for 2 hours with over 40 likes and 2 shares.

I don’t think any of those Autism Speaks supporters (or even Autism Speaks themselves) even bothered to read my article, because if they did, they wouldn’t have posted anything with an unfavorable mention.

This begs the even larger question of the importance of autistic opinions. I believe that when it all comes down to it, it’s that money rules and we don’t matter.

This was certainly not my first online encounter with this greedy “charity”. Nope. Autism Speaks Canada actually e-mailed me once trying to tell me all the things they do. TELLING me is important to note because they failed to read or even address anything I had said.

In conclusion:

Autism Speaks wants to replace and eliminate us. Our voices are not worthy or important to them.

I’m just going to leave this here.

Big Changes in my life.

I have been hyper focused on creating my “Retrophiliac & Co.” Product line with my Mum. I also quit my job and moved to Vancouver. I’m currently sleeping on a couch and living between my Mum’s & my older Sister’s place. I do have to say, i’m happier.

This is more information on what we’re working on, I would love for you to share & if you’d like, pre-order.

Retrophiliac & Co. Preorder!

Thank you! Would love to hear from you.

Che Malambo!

Screen Shot 2018-04-13 at 10.37.45 PM

I was so lucky to receive tickets* to experience Caravan World Rhythm’s Che Malambo which is an Argentinian All-Male Dance group.

With their overwhelming talent, expert choreography and ability to entertain the crowd, the show was a memorable masterpiece.

Their footwork was a mix of riverdance paired with flamenco and tango. Truly a unique experience! I really enjoyed the humour and singing as well as the impressive tricks they performed by whirling boleadoras – a percussive lasso. It was electrifying. To me, I felt it was very elemental. They resembled a growing flame and a powerful hailstorm.

They will be performing 3 nights in Florida followed by NY & NH.

Couples Photos with Sydney!

IMG_5873

My Boyfriend Justin and I were fortunate enough to win a couples photoshoot from Sydney of Sydney’s Snaps Photography. I was enamoured by her work and was very excited! We decided on Gastown in Vancouver, BC for the location. Gastown has great significance in our romantic relationship: it’s where we met just over 6 years ago.

Sydney was able to capture the best of us. She gave us great direction and knew all the best locations! It was a truly great experience and something I won’t soon forget.  I would hope you take the chance to check out Sydney’s other work and her facebook page.

Shimona and I share a passion for vintage and it was amazing to connect with someone who knew what I was talking about!

Graduating at the top of her class, she was the student of the year at John Casablancas in 2016.  Her love for colourful hairstyles and building strong connections with her customers is a driving passion with versatility and uniqueness being the name of the game!  Need a fab new do? Her hours are 10am to 8pm Sunday to Wednesday. She also shares her wisdom and knowledge at East Vanity Parlour in group demos as well as one-on-one sessions!

Connect with Shimona:

I was so lucky to be given the most incredible hair cut and colour i’ve EVER HAD. Shimona made excellent suggestions and asked how I wear my hair and my maintenance routine. This is the first time I felt guided and had kind, professional advice.

The cut was done a few weeks before the colour! Shimona bleached my hair and used Joico products for the colour. She finished it off with some product and cute hair straightener curls!

This is kind of a bit of a milestone for me – I have written my first “list” article for a website that’s not my own! I really am a sucker for sweet treats and with the weather getting hotter and budgets getting tighter, it’s always good to look for the best value.

Check out my article here – Likes/Shares with all the social links on the left hand side give me a really good chance of making this go viral which would be immensely beneficial for  my chance at future content. I would LOVE to know what you think!
