I made it through.

This week was particularly rough on me. The hours were long and my patience was waning. I don’t think people can understand what it’s like to have an Autistic Shutdown unless they’ve been there before. I am incredibly thankful to my partners at work who were supportive and modified my tasks to make them easier for me to handle. The positive affirmation and kindness goes a very long way and I am grateful.

I have a very long to do list and tackling it will be a challenge. I have today and the next three days off so there is time for contemplation, cleaning and mentally delegating tasks to where it becomes manageable. I often wonder what it would be like to have an active social life and friends but part of me feels like my Cats and my Boyfriend (oh, and family, of course) are more than enough for me.

I find long messages intimidating and I have to be in the right head space to handle it. That’s not to say I can’t respond, I just have to find the correct mental state to breathe deeply and think rationally. Most of the time my thinking is quite abstract and lately I’ve wanted to put my pens to paper and just release the subconscious, colourful flow.

There are parts of me that feel invisible and parts of me that stick out like a sore thumb. I’m a Libra, dammit! Where’s my balance?

This Weekend….

Untitled design

Friday was very eventful!

I got all dressed up and we got some delicious, reasonably priced sushi from Sushi Mania in Vancouver. It was an exciting day. My Sister is 1/2 of the duo Hollow Twin and my Boyfriend and I enjoyed the album release show at The Biltmore. It was a stellar evening. The performance was enjoyable and gave me goosebumps.

I also made some very new art. I am not sure if i’m done because i’m so fixated on the fact that the grass isn’t uniform and that I haven’t used enough white outlines.

Beyond that, i’m trying to stay very positive and motivated to create more Art and trying to get it in to more people’s homes. I have many ambitions but I need the finances to keep going. Having my job is essential but not exactly sufficient enough. I can’t over work myself either!

PlanetBox Rover Review!

Thank you PlanetBox for sending me this product in exchange for my very honest review.

This is the Rover model, It’s a stainless steel bento-style lunchbox which amps up your creativity and can definitely promote the healthiest lunches. Perfect for Adults & Kids alike. I am in a childfree household but I could see my Niece and Nephew loving this for School. You have your choice of many different magnet designs to excite, create fun and personalization. There are two “dippers” which can hold dips, sauces, fruit and much, much more!

I opted to create a delicious meal full of produce, crackers, cheese and cookies! The possibilities are truly “sky-high”. Without the magnets, the box can be hand washed or put in the dishwasher.

#MyFujifilm #XA3

I was SO excited when Fujifilm agreed to send me this camera to review. The quality of images is super fantastic and it makes photography easy and accessible for all!

I’m so impressed. I couldn’t believe the kind of images I was able to capture and the fact I didn’t have to fumble around with the settings. I still need to go through the manual and read it over.

THANK YOU FUJIFILM for providing me with this camera in a complimentary fashion.

My Experience at Famoso!

It’s not often that I find a restaurant that can truly cater to my specific dietary needs or naturally picky nature. I also get easily bothered by bright lighting, closed spaces, tables that feel like they are in the middle of the room and noisy play areas.

This was my third visit to Famoso Morgan Crossing, located in South Surrey, British Columbia Canada. It’s always been an absolute delight. The management and staff make it a point to provide outstanding customer service and delicious food, every single time.

The location has large windows and feels very open, the lighting is absolutely soft and almost relaxing. The booths are very comfortable.

We started our meal with an oven roasted flatbread with tzatziki and hummus. It was packed with flavour and incredibly fresh.

IMG_4004

I ordered a Margherita Pizza but omitted a few ingredients and replaced it with roasted garlic! Garlic is definitely one of my favourite flavours. The Pizza was baked to perfection. My boyfriend, Justin ordered the Spicy Thai Pizza and was incredibly impressed with the taste and quality of toppings.

We ended our meal with a scoop of gelato each. So rich and creamy. I’ve had the Nutella Pizza before and I have to say that it’s also an excellent choice for dessert.

It’s a great place for a date, a family outing or a birthday party. I’ve been there for all 3 and I always leave with a smile on my face, a full belly and good memories. The prices are incredibly reasonable too.

Thank you Famoso for having us, we had such a great time!

The importance of expression

I can feel incredibly trapped and caged when I am unable to express myself. Whether it’s art, cooking, writing or human interaction– my soul desperately cries out for the opportunity. I am a very visual person. I like to see what is going on in front of me. I engage, I live in colour. I like to dress up, I like to provide advice and talk to all kinds of different people, preferably without negative consequences. Sometimes the foreboding feeling of something negative to follow is enviable.

These are pieces of me, pieces of my soul and I will always look back on how many opportunities my expression has created for me. I want to connect with artists, writers and musicians. If you’re reading this–feel free to reach out!

So much more to come.

I feel so incredibly lucky to have had the opportunity to have had 11 brands share their products with me to review.

I have always had lofty goals with having a platform to express myself and connect with likeminded individuals.

Things i’ve accomplished this year:

  • Focused on my blog
  • Ran two contests
  • Got a new job
  • Got a second cat

Things I plan to accomplish next year:

  • Gain press passes to events
  • Review films
  • Work with more brands/companies
  • Establish a media creation program for those who are differently abled
  • Network with those who can empower me and support my journey

I’m honestly so excited. I can’t wait to see what surprises are in store for me and for all of you. If you have any ideas or suggestions, i’m all ‘ears’, or shall I say ‘eyes’?

David Cassidy

my_love__david_cassidy_by_margypargie

David Cassidy was more to me than just a star of days gone by. He was handsome, charisma and talent rolled in to one. His album “Rock Me Baby” was the soundtrack to my teenage years. I would spin that record over and over again. It never got old or stale. The sense of warmth I got from his music can only be described as hair-raising, goosebump-inducing auditory pleasure.

I like to remember him as the young adult he once was and will be remembered for. His beautiful voice, his ability to transcend generations and his captivating spirit and passion  was the ticket to his success.

From what i’ve read, he wanted to be a serious actor and earn the much coveted trophies and accolades to go with it. His career turned out to be much different.

Perhaps he harboured resentment.

I’m certain the amount of people who can truly say that their lives were enhanced by his visual and auditory contributions, well, they’re probably much more then I can fathom.

I’m writing this at 5:02 in the morning. I was awake in my bed and started “writing” this out in my head and I couldn’t take it anymore. It was eating away at me since his passing. I’ve been doing my own mourning. I didn’t write much about it before today. Those who know me, know how much of an impact he’s made on my life.

When I started really trying to propel my art further in to the world, I would always mention him as an inspiration. I don’t think those who interviewed me could grasp the idea that an actor, a singer, a personality like his, could inspire visual art.

androgonous_70s_by_margypargie

I feel as though when I listen to his music and watch his shows that I am interpreting the vibes I get and, in turn, getting it all on canvas. Art is art. Art can truly make other art happen if you let it, and boy, did I ever. I was on a roll for years and his music was a constant source of happiness for me.

I know he battled his demons and i’m not here to glorify his addiction or even the way he  treated himself and his family. I’m most certainly not. I can say I have ideas of what it’s like to be hurt by others and it’s a very horrible feeling… but I can admire those who leave something good in the world and have some kind of legacy. It’s humbling to know that his family came together in his final moments and that there was closure.

I’ll always remember him fondly.
